We preserve each source's definitions, scope and reporting period rather than blending incompatible datasets.

Government and regulatory records lead where they are the official authority. Primary industry reporting follows, then specialist aviation databases, financial institutions and independent aviation publications. Generic market-research companies do not outrank aviation-specific sources merely because their estimate is newer or larger.

Definitions

Terms are not interchangeable

Business jet: A purpose-built or adapted turbine-powered jet used primarily for private, corporate, charter, fractional, governmental or executive transportation.
Business turboprop: A turboprop commonly operated in corporate, charter, private or executive roles.
Bizliner: A business or VIP aircraft derived from a commercial-airliner platform, including BBJ and ACJ aircraft.
Installed fleet: Aircraft understood to form part of the fleet whether or not every aircraft flew during the observation period.
Active fleet: Aircraft recorded as operational or active under the source's methodology during the relevant period.
Based fleet: Aircraft physically or operationally based in a stated region.
Registered fleet: Aircraft appearing on a jurisdiction's civil aircraft registry.
Departure: One aircraft takeoff beginning a recorded flight sector.
Flight sector: One flight between an origin and a destination.
Movement: A source-defined traffic observation. Airport arrival-plus-departure movements are not interchangeable with WINGX flight sectors.
Delivery: A factory-new aircraft shipped or delivered by an OEM during the reporting period under the source's reporting rules.

Conflict policy

Differences stay visible

Credible sources may disagree because their fleet definitions, delivery cutoffs, ADS-B coverage, geography or aircraft categories differ. BizJet Journal compares definition, scope and period, then uses the primary source for the metric. We never average conflicting statistics or silently substitute one dataset for another.

Review discipline

Three dates, three meanings

The data period states what was measured. The publication date states when the source released it. The last-reviewed date records the latest human BizJet Journal verification. A build or deployment never changes that date automatically.

Year-to-date values are not substituted for complete calendar-year values unless the card is explicitly relabeled. Consistency takes priority over making every figure appear live.

Global fleet: Quarterly, or when JETNET publishes a new fleet update.
Flight activity: Monthly internal review; the headline updates after WINGX publishes a complete calendar year.
Market value: Annually, after Global Jet Capital publishes its Business Jet Market Forecast.
Fleet growth: Annually, after complete calendar-year fleet information is available.
Deliveries: Quarterly internal review; the public headline remains the latest complete GAMA calendar year unless explicitly relabeled YTD.
